Dhaka filmfest to receive ‘That Night’s Train’

Dhaka Int’l filmfest in Bangladesh is to host Iran’s ‘That Night’s Train’.

The Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh is set to host Iranian feature film ‘That Night’s Train’.

Hamid-Reza Qotbi’s movie is among the competing titles at the Children Film session of the Bangladeshi film fest’s 19th edition.

‘That Night’s Train’ is the story of a little girl who meets a female writer on a train. The writer promises to call and visit her later. The promise, in the writer’s mind, is just a theme for her new story, but so serious for the little kid.

To overcome the sadness the kid endures, her father who is an author himself comes to rescue.

The events that follow will make the border between reality and fantasy blurry and obscure.

Siamak Safari, Maryam Boubani, and Bahram Shakeri star in the film.

The film has so far participated in a number of global events, including the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece, the Schlingel International Film Festival in Germany and the Cinekid Festival in the Netherlands.

Since 1977, the DIFF has been promoting a healthy culture in the film industry in Bangladesh with the main theme of ‘Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society’.

Some 200 films from 60 countries will compete at the DIFF in the following categories: Asian Competition Section, Retrospective, Bangladesh Panorama, Cinema of the World, Children’s Film, Short and Independent Film, Women Filmmakers Section, and Spiritual Films Section.

The 19th edition of the fest is slated for January 16-24, 2021.
